Cardamom: This is a delicious spice with a citrus-like aroma that adds a wonderful flavor to Indian foods, among others. It is also know to be good for your liver, which in turn is good for entire body, since your liver helps you detoxify your blood. It is also good for your digestion, and is known to help with gas and the cramps that causes. The only caveat is that you might want to hold off on the cardamom if you are worried about gallstones. Otherwise, it can be a great addition to your recipes.

Honeydew In Cardamom Lime Syrup with Vanilla Cream

ingredients

  • For syrup
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/3 cup water
  • zest of 2 limes, removed in strips with a vegetable peeler
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom, or to taste

  • 2 quarts 0.75- to 1 inch honeydew melon balls (from 2 5 pound

  • Garnish: freshly grated lime zest and Vanilla Cream

Make syrup:

In a small saucepan simmer syrup ingredients, stirring, until sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Remove pan from heat and cool syrup completely. Discard zest. Syrup may be made 1 day ahead and chilled, covered.

Just before serving, in a medium bowl combine melon balls with syrup and divide mixture among 6 stemmed glasses. Top each serving with a generous dollop of cream and garnish with grated zest.
